RIP THE REPUBLIC, LONG LIVE THE EMPIRE!

So basically Krugman wanted Obama to ignore the constitution, the federal REPUBLIC and the strict system of checks and balances instituted by the Founding Fathers to hold the EXPANSION of government at bay. One wonders why isn't Krugman living in Venezuela, given his preferences on presidential prerogatives. What puzzles me the most however, is some people's blind ignorance about the very nature and reason of this system's ways. It is not by mistake that such a thing could come to pass, but it is an intrinsic feature, it was meant to happen, BY DESIGN.
The system has, nevertheless, undoubtedly failed; as nowadays a REDUCTION OF THE INCREASE in FUTURE (PLANNED) government expansion and usurpation of the private citizen's sphere of action (liberty) is called by socialists such as Krugman a "defeat". So basically, Americans are no longer fighting over more or less government, but over more government or a lot more government. America is now fighting in Socialist's ground. Perpetual expansion of government prerogatives is now a given.
Of course, all of this was already known. In spite of Krugman's anti-libertarian rhetoric, no side wants a cut at all. Bush expanded government spending like no president before him, except maybe Roosevelt. Even the so-called minimal-government Reagan oversaw tremendous expansion of government, but was only called for what he was by a few clear minds such as Rothbard, effectively instituting himself as a patron saint of a set of ideas he never applied. It is only the nature of the spending which is at play now.
But the problem is even deeper, socialists such as Krugman have managed to shift language in such perverted ways that now eliminating taxes is consider an “expense”. That is, citizen’s money belongs by default to the government and when it chooses to plunder a bit less, it is a “expense”!
Essentially, the US's political system has become a duopolistic game of whom takes the larger part of the loot stolen from American citizens year after year. With some honorable exceptions, everyone in Washington is there simply to loot and plunder. The system has become so utterly corrupt that lobbyists spending millions influencing legislation have become accepted like a natural component of law making. This is certainly not what Jefferson envisioned for a republic. Long gone is America's golden age when Jeffersonians stood up in defense of liberty in front of the imperialistic big(central)-banking war-monger Hamiltonians. Central banking and debt as a way of life seemed defeated at one point, but we forgot that "Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty." Now America has two Hamiltonian parties and no Jeffersonian one. The Tea Party is not to be trusted to a full extend either. Alone stands Ron Paul defending the great tradition of Classical Liberalism, Republicanism and Constitucionalism that inspired The Founders. The cause seems lost yet again.
No more concession can be made. Liberty's defenders stood aside too many times thinking that any change towards government omnipotence could latter be reversed, but history has taught us a single thing: once especial interests and the parasitic political class living at the expense of the taxpayer gain a foot of ground in their battle against civility, they will not give it back easily. Today, liberty has lost yet another battle.
